On the Eve
for two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba
(1990)

Long waiting, listening to silence, an attempt to foresee the action, trying to avoid the undesirable, hiding the head into the sand, belief and disillusionment, hope and resignation, indifference and anxiety, realizing of inevitability — after this the catastrophe comes unexpectedly, nevertheless; it is hardly possible to prepare himself for it… This might be the inner programme of the piece On the Eve, but there is a chance to find here only abstract sound images and combinations, as the main "hero" of this music is a sound and its inner life.
